Park Boulevard Extension
KCS Railroad Overpass, Collin County, Texas
Wylie Drilling is proud to contribute our expertise to the Park Boulevard Extension project in Wylie of Collin County, Texas, a critical infrastructure upgrade designed to improve transportation flow over the active KCS Railroad tracks. Serving as a second-tier subcontractor to RPMx Construction, we are providing turnkey drill shaft installation for this complex heavy civil project.
Our work includes the installation of 64 drill shafts ranging from 18” to 66” in diameter and depths up to 83’, all executed to TxDOT 416 specifications. Several unique challenges make this project particularly demanding, including limited access to the active rail lines, the presence of groundwater in the overburden, and multiple buried utilities, including a 96” water line.
To address these conditions, Wylie Drilling is deploying 60” and 66” permanent casings at each bent parallel the rail tracks and utilizing temporary steel casings on the other structures to manage groundwater as needed. Coordinating concrete pours around active train schedules ensures that work progresses efficiently without delays or product waste, keeping concrete within timing specifications.
The project began in June 2025 and is now over 60% complete, with Phase 2 scheduled to begin in March 2026 and drill shaft completion expected by May 2026. This project will significantly enhance transportation in a congested area, improving traffic flow and safety. Wylie Drilling’s contribution leverages specialized CZM drilling equipment, large-diameter casings, and operators with over 15 years of foundation drilling experience, ensuring the highest standards are maintained throughout the project.
